Why ROTC?

ROTC gives you the chance to be a part of something great — something that is bigger than ourselves — where less than 1% serve in uniform.

The end goal of ROTC is to be commissioned as an officer in the United States Army, but along the way you can acquire so much more. You are placed in the position to acquire leadership skills that make you stand out. Through the program, many often gain mental agility that helps them adapt to any situation life throws their way. Our program here at UL Lafayette allows you to get involved within the school and around the community.

Cadets can select from three different options upon graduating. Once commissioned, you can go on Active Duty; serve in the Army full-time or serve in the US Army Reserves or National Guard; or serve part-time and have pursue a career immediately after graduating.

Our graduates are disciplined and successful, and often go on to careers in various fields as a commissioned officer and after they’ve retired from the military. Employers value service to our Nation and the leadership skills that our military service members acquire while serving, making them more marketable and desirable as employees.
