Currently the UL Army ROTC has two recognized student organizations:
The Corps of Cadets.
The purpose of this organization is to develop, plan and execute social events to build esprit de corps, fundraise to help offset the cost of events for the students and to be the voice of the students with regards to how the ROTC program is run. This organization also partners with local/community organizations to help them in their causes, providing community service.
The Scotch Guard.
Formally recognized by the University in the Fall 2014. Their purpose is similar to a Women’s Auxiliary; providing support to the Cadets of the ROTC program through community service, camaraderie and learning what the military does to help them understand and have an appreciation for the military. One of their goals is to develop a national organization through other ROTC programs nationally.
Additionally UL Army ROTC has the following:
- Ranger Challenge Team. A competitive team assembled to compete against 39 other programs in our Brigade on basic military skills. This team must be mentally and physically tough, be able to carry their weight and lead their peers to victory.
- Color Guard. Present the National Colors and State Flag at official events that the University or community requests.
- Cannon Detail. This highly trained team fires the 75mm Howitzer cannon at all UL home football games and official ceremonies requiring a cannon.
- Push-up Platoon. This highly energized and enthusiastic Platoon stands by at Cajun Fields North end zone and performs push-ups every time our Ragin' Cajuns score.
