To have a military science minor, most often it takes is nothing more than declaring it as your minor. In some cases, it may require taking one or two extra classes.
All Cadets are required to take the classes below to commission:
- MLSC 301
- MLSC 302
- MLSC 303
- MLSC 401
- MLSC 402
- A military history class. Currently the approved courses are HIST 381 (Wars and Revolutions) or MLSC 403 (US Military History 1775 to Present)
In addition students desiring the minor must take
- One of three CMCN classes: CMCN 100 (Principles of Human Communication), CMCN 202 (Argumentation and Structured Decision-Making), or CMCN 310 (Public Speaking)
In many majors, students have to take a HIST elective and in most cases a CMCN elective.
The biggest advantages to earning your military science minor are:
- Most majors require students to have a minor, so why not Military Science? After all, you’re already in the courses.
- It is a great resume point that prospective employers are interested in knowing more about. Employers love having leaders.
